Lately Loves

Hello! I have decided to start ANOTHER series of post's regarding what I am loving at the moment.

1// Sheppard- after recent adventures at a theme park near me I fell head over heels with this band and the amazing blue hair, so much so that their song Geronimo has been played over and over and over.

2// This photo on my Tumblr- Tumblr in general is fantastic and I've been inspired sooo much.

3// Urban Outfitters- Forever out of my price range but forever my favourite place for homeware.

4// Made In Chelsea In NYC- Oh my. My favourite TV programme is back in ironically ... not Chelsea?

5// This outfit on The Views Of Now- Isabella is my style icon and this denim jacket is my favourite thing ever.

5// CCTYLR on Instagram- Christie's photos are all over my Tumblr and now I finally know the gorgeous lady who's behind all this wonderfulness.

Short Story// A different fairytale

I took this picture a while back and instantly fell in love. The sheer concept that my little camera can capture something so dark and brooding and portray these emotions through a single snapshot never ceases to amaze me. Okay, maybe I did enhance the picture a little.

Today I have another short story for you. As I type this I have no idea what this story is going to be about, the characters or anything so I will just stare out my window for a few minutes and think.

She aches to be a Disney princess. All long hair that tangles around the perfect tiny waist and large hips. A voice that can lift birds of their feet or draw a prince in for a lingering kiss. To be so effortlessly beautiful that a man can fall in love at first glance. So pure that any hint of evil diminishes in her power. She wants a name that melts on the tongue, friends that stand by her in the most harrowing of times. She wants a musical. A happy ending. And she will get an ending. But it may not be happy.

I watch her now. Eyes closed dreaming. She doesn't know but to me she is everything as perfect as Cinderella or Belle or Ariel. More perfect. Because she is fighting. The evil that eats away at her lungs cannot be destroyed by true loves kiss. Yet all though it tries, it can never rip apart her heart. Tear the last thread of love that prevents her from slipping in to oblivion. Both of us. Together fighting for every day knowing that one moment we could be people and the next angels.

My bed is near hers. If I muster up enough breath I can reach her hand with my finger tips. Soft and shivering in the dull air. I don't wait for the orchestra, the birds or the wreath of love hearts. I squeeze her fingers and her eyes open. I tell her, with my own smile, how beautiful she is, how perfect and how she is my brave brave princess.

Even if it isn't Disney, it's still a fairytale. Just a different kind.

the ramblings #1 // living that tumblr life

This is the back bone behind my new series of posts, 'the ramblings'. Whilst I was reading the replies to my survey [x] some very honest soul said that my blog content was a bit shallow. And now I think I understand what she/he means. So in response to this wonderfully honest person I will be writing about less shallow and more thought provoking topics. That make you think. And smile. And relate to. Hence the use of ramblings.

Living that tumblr life  If you reflected on the amount of internet you used in the average day, I can honestly say that you would be shocked. Whether we are aware or not, the internet shapes our lives and consumes a good percentage of our thoughts. When I awake its hello instagram, when I go to sleep its why goodnight pinterest. And it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Yet, I have found that recently my mind is being controlled by this omniscient cyber king to the great extent that I have started to shape my own life around it. I go to starbucks and buy a ridiculously priced creamy cooler so I can post it on instagram, I take my phone everywhere in case a rad looking succulent stumbles in to view, I find myself wanting to meet with friends in 'tumblr' places so that I can take pictures. It is pathetic yet wonderful all at the same incomprehensible time. I don't want anyone to think my life is 'tumblr' or my bedroom is 'pinterest'worthy or that I eat 'instagram' food. I post the pictures because that is our world nowadays but believe me every starbucks/polaroid/succulent picture is not effortless. It has been moulded multiple times until I am happy with the look before taking a million shots at different angles in order to get those likes and gain those follows. I'm not saying I'm going to stop, in this lifetime it is almost impossible to not come across a starbucks or an american apparel without someone taking a picture. Yet, I want to highlight to anyone who reads this blog that that is not my reality. So I've taken some pictures. Pictures that portray my life in a very realistic way. Much more realistic than my non-filter policy on my instagram, much more realistic then any other blog post I have ever posted. These photos aren't tumblr or pinterest(y) or instagram(y). They aren't even attractive. They are just life.

Thanks for reading this ramble, I really hope this style of posts interests you and maybe insights some thought?

Hunting for Second-Hand Finds // with Emily

Hello everyone! Today I have an extremely exciting post in which I teamed up with Emily (aka a seriously flawless style blogger) for a really interesting collaboration. Although we both live on LITERALLY the other side of the world, we both share the same love of second-hand clothes. Charity shops/ thrift store/ OP shops are quite honestly my favourite places to shop as you can pick up something so unique without it eating in to your purse. So today me and Emily are sharing our favourite second-hand finds in an alternative fashion collaboration. Enjoy!

My shorts are former Abercombie and Fitch and the top and shirt used to be from Topshop. My jacket (right) is my all time favourite quirky/vintage buy -it is so comfy and was so cheap!

Emily's outfit is so effortlessly chic- the contrast between the stripes and the block denim works perfectly!

I was slightly anxious to purchase this skirt but now I am so glad I did. It was only £2 and looks great with this former Topshop lacy top.

This is my FAVOURITE outfit. You can always find denim in second hand stores (and don't be afraid to look in the men's section for oversized jackets). *Action laughing shot*

I found this jacket in the men's section and fell in love immediately. My shoes were £5 and my Mom jeans were £2.

This skort is another personal favourite. I think it is so quirky and brightens up any outfit.

Thank you to my lovely friend Ciara for taking the photos and thanks again to Emily for agreeing to do this collaboration with me! I have been such a huge fan of her blog and really recommend you check it out. I hope this inspired you all to hunt for second-hand things and discover vintage finds..

Have a great day,
-J
