spontaneity and a playlist.

spontaneity.

My word of the month. So exciting. So s p o n t a n e o u s. Let's act. Just go. Live.

Last Wednesday I did something so utterly spontaneous and so utterly freeing. Meeting a stranger can be incredibly daunting (will they like me? will it be awkward? what happens if we don't connect?) which is exactly why I didn't give myself a chance to feel nervous. I just did.

And now I'm going to just do.

Below are a few snaps of my London adventure with my new Dutch friend Sophie. And some very spontaneous songs to dance around to.  Urgh. I am now entirely in love with spontaneity and quite possibly even more addicted to adventure...

(above was taken on Ciara's 18th... we  slept in this beautiful tent and got a little bit drunk prank calling pizza places like 9 year olds)

All pictures were taken from my instagram (oceanpainter_) Do give the songs a try- they are so inspiring.

Be spontaneously spontaneous in moments that beg for spontaneity,
-J

(let me know below any post ideas... I've got a few autumn ideas eek)

sunset talks // introducing my new jewellery

I have always found excitement in creating; evolving my ideas, learning and taking inspiration from other creative outlets. My blog has been a platform for so many of my ambitions- creations- and am just so EXCITED to share a project that I have been working on for several months now...

Julbox is an upcoming, innovative new website where YOU can design your own jewellery. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to design my own range of six necklaces that are now available to purchase on my own webpage as part of the Julbox family! The process was surprisingly extremely easy, fun and just so empowering- particularly upon delivery.

Below are some images introducing you to my six designs. Taking inspiration from organic forms in nature and contemporary shapes, these necklaces all embody a different meaning (which can be found on the shop website). I hope you love them as much as I do...

You're going to make it work (and it's going to be wonderful),

adventure diary // london

Wednesday, April 20th. Third period ended at 12:15... after that, we were off. There is something so beautiful about the spontaneity of adventure. No plan, just an oyster card and laughter.

I am so fortunate to call one of the greatest cities in the world my home (and I'm not subjective at all). With the sun on our faces, it really was a magical day. I've listed below some of the places you can see in the video:

Neal's Yard (Covent Garden)
South Bank (London Eye, Big Ben)
Antique Book Shop (Covent Garden)
River Thames
Disney Store (Covent Garden)
Book Sale (South Bank)
Trafalgar Square
Leicester Square

Can't wait to make more videos like these and explore other parts of the city/ country. It's amazing how you can find adventure right on your doorstep...

a lazy day // songs

In a slightly more aesthetically pleasing depiction, this is what a lazy day looks like to me. I'm talking geek glasses (because why ever say no to geek glasses), graphic tees, Cath Kidston mugs, pretty books and Spotify. Today is my last day off before school starts again. Wish me luck, I'm dreading it. I haven't done nearly enough work- it's not good. School first, kids!

I'm super in to music at the moment and have compiled together some of my favourite tunes. Let me know what you think. I have no idea what my 'taste is'.... maybe indie pop?

In other news, I also filmed a new YouTube video on this subject. Do check it out [x]

exam photography

Above is a selection of random photographs from my GCSE photography exam. Much of my exam was focussed on people and the differences between us, explored through shape and shadows. My pictures are often soft and in b&w - I love the emotion conveyed through a gentle lens.

Inspiration is slowly flooding back to me... I have so many plans for YouTube, blogging and writing. I just can't wait to share it with you all. My camera is definitely going to  be living very closely to me from now; I miss the power of the lens terribly.

Back to my essay I go :(

be adventurous

let the wind taste your soul// adventure

Come with me, he said
I can't trust you, she replied
And he whistled away... frost in a flippant wind

Guess who went on an adventure today? It was so refreshing to pick up my camera again- I had forgotten how freeing photography is. Please don't be fooled by these photos though; it was bitterly cold outside. Exposed hands were soon raw with frost bite- not pleasant. All the same, we had a beautiful and tranquil afternoon in the winter sun.

Please do check out my wonderful friend April's blog (she's the blonde in these photos). You probably will have seen her before in my Snapchat vlogs (oceanpainterj) and my Instagram (oceanpainter_). Just click here [x] She is a beautiful story teller and has crazy contagious laughter :)

Will be back very soon, keep living
